Nobody’s Wolf Child’s ‘Erbsa’s Songs of the Sea’ Presents Mystical Synth Pop Folklore
Nobody’s Wolf Child is an alt pop composer with ideas that transcend normal planes of expression. The artist makes and nurtures cerebral, emotional, and conceptual connections that are astounding to say the least. Especially as they manifest in the way she explores and presents themes. There is a cinematic factor, a swirling universe of melody and emotion that carries into her vocal flow. Her latest release is ‘Erbsa’s Songs of the Sea’ an EP that blends romanticism with mysticism. The performative elements are quite expansive and vivid that they gain form and play out like a movie.
‘10,000 White Horses’ introduces the collection. The soundscape has mellow accents, but are dilated for effect. Acoustics and synths hold the presence, the essence of the track as they create an atmospheric mist. The artist’s vocals have the sultry drawl that Lana Del Rey has come to become reputed for. And the way she leads the emotion into a fairytale/ folklore sphere is affecting.

With a trail of echoes and harmonies, she manifests mystery and magic. ‘Selkie’ forms along the same vein, but its narratives are sparked with darker contemplations, gothic accents and a spectacular drama. ‘Song to the Siren’ is composed to emulate the myths surrounding it. There is such an entrancing appeal to the way it is crafted. A world that is so achingly beautiful, layered with so much mystical details.
‘Secrets and Seabirds’ has a remarkable poetic ethos. The lyrical allure of it floats into a contemporary pop ballad that you can sail through. It is soft and velvet like melancholia as it grows into the soundscape. Last song is ‘A Drop of Strangers Blood’, another composition with the visceral and rustic pulse of folklore.
