The Silver Doors : A Rolling Psychedelic Rock Showcase

The Silver Doors are a psychedelic rock band with ideas that are definitely not of this world. All their soundscapes are ever changing : warping, morphing, mutating and becoming. It is the consequence of their fluid music philosophy that allows them to explore folk, blues, shoegaze, rock n roll, alt rock, grunge, etc. In fact, the band’s genius lies in how their compositions withstand diverse brackets of rock. The cerebral quotients form effortlessly, like a sophisticated by-product of refined songwriting and production.

The band has just released their debut self-titled album. Across eight tracks, the band methodically eliminates the boundaries of reality and illusion. Charged with concept and emotion, it packs a fantastic punch. Listeners of bands, be it the 60s favorites like The Doors and Cream or more belated artists like King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard and Tame Impala are sure to enjoy the surreal treat that is this band.

The album exactly sets out the ethos of the band. Fundamental facets include their love for experimentation, deliberate retro design, progressive riffing, productional proficiency, and subversion of dualities. In tracks like ‘Redeemer’, ‘Shattered’, and ‘Gone’, the soundscape are a delicate balance of acoustic elements and distortive dimensions. The soft sprinkling melodies are dilated and expanded with transcendental riff variations. You’ll spot indie rock definitions and melodic rock sequences that is reminiscent of the 90s and 60s.

‘Losing Hand’ brings a hard rock gradient. It spans between emphatic and abstract. The definite structures in the initial frames are extrapolated, stretched, and warped to a magnificent degree by the end of the track. And the strange vocal emotion beautifully amplifies the experience of it all. ‘Dirtnap’ enjoys a similar make except it is grander and richer in climactic textures. ‘Bulletteeth’ is tumultuous with chaotic funk, blues, and a blasphemous vocal wail. It is controversially composed to suit the thematic atmosphere.

‘Legwork’ is a sunny pop rock song. With mellow textures, mild melodies, and its general dulcet tones, it will remind you of The Beach Boys. ‘Holding Pattern’ is a song full of blues, phantoms, and looping rhythms. There’s a sense of renewed mystery. And the undulating rock n roll rhythm expands and truncates this nebulous space. Hypnotic blues rock frames further lures the listener into this undefinable area; spinning the mind into a contemplative oblivion. Listen Now!
