Song Review/ Chi-Pop : Attack the Sound’s ‘Favorite Things’

Attack the Sound is a Chicago-based band that explores soul music as it manifests in the new age. The group’s music spill and splash across a spectrum of jazz, hip hop, blues, gospel, and rock, pioneering a new genre called Chi-Pop. Their ideas and listening feels forms in the vein of artists like Leon Bridges, John Legend, and Black Pumas, engaging as they do with such deep emotional themes and indulgences.

Their latest release is ‘Favorite Things’, a track that upholsters the classic show tune and waltz from The Sound of Music. The band creates an instrumental mood around it, plush with moody textures, emphatic drama, and a whirl around the world kind of vocal sphere. Frames of jazz that tinkle and twinkle like glass are built into a soft instrumental daze. All the while preserving the waltz timestamps within the rhythms. Listen Now!

The track is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
