Single Review/ Acoustic Rock : Charlie Freeman’s ‘ Lay On’

London-based Charlie Freeman explores the facets of truth especially as it unfurls in love, and everything else in his 2018 album, ‘Truth’. With a spectrum of rock, emerging from alt rock, acoustic rock, and a more contemporary ethos, he details the theme. ‘Lay On’ is one of the softer presentations. It is mellow, contemplative, ambient, and full of the protagonist’s consciousness. With intimate lyrics and plush melodies, he attaches to the listener with vulnerability.

The soundscape is weightless, colored by the soft illuminations of emotion. Like the pastel daze of day break, the song stretches on : refreshing acoustics, epiphanic moments, and a tingling warmth. Charlie’s baritones are like a simmering fire that is cozy and contemplative in ways reminiscent of John Mayer. Listen Now!
