Single Review : Powers of the Monk’s ‘It’s Your Voodoo Working’

Powers of the Monk have an eccentric drive. It is an important part of their artistic makeup. Formed in 2006 by David s. Monk and CasSondra Powers, they revolutionize indie folk with experimental and extrapolated rock scapes. Their latest release is ‘It’s Your Voodoo Working’, a track that is splashed with dynamic blues, vintage themes, and a rock n roll groove. 

The track portrays love and passion like the oldies did. Groovy and creative, but with a tinge of mystique and abstraction. Listening to it, you’re sure to travel back to 70s/80s ethos. Imagine The Bangles raw and rustic styles blended with Janis Joplin’s vocal charisma and Jimi Hendrix’s mellow guitar rhythms. That’s what this duo sounds like.
