Roll With Funk Rock Grooves in Small Black Arrows’ ‘Trojan Horse’

Small Black Arrows is an indie band with many tricks up their sleeve. Sonic magicians of sorts, they fuse rolling funk grooves with spells of contemplative folk and experimental pop. They are even known to extend the funk with soul, R&B, and neo-jazz atmospheres. Listening to them excites a fresh sonic state of mind. If you mix Daft Punk’s cerebral ideas with moments of Tame Impala, Tom Misch, and Phoebe Bridgers, that’s what SBA sounds like.

In their latest release, ‘Trojan Horse’, the band flushes a mellow funk frame with atmospheric vocals, dissonant realities, bluesy grooves and dispersing synths. Its melancholic subtexts rise into the forlorn heartbreak philosophies in the vocals. The sentiment and cynicism of the betrayed is at the core of it all. Listen Now!
