Robert Jordan’s Acoustic Rock Swings with Tale & Tones in ‘Vincent & Theo’

Robert Jordan is an acoustic rock artist who leverages the influences of country/folk rock with subtle whimsy of blues and warm vocals to create a tapestry of storytelling, contemplation, wisdom, and nostalgia. His use of harmonies, instrumentals, and vocal quotients are so incredibly reminiscent of the 70s/80s ethos. It is hearty, feel-good and delivered with a songwriting passion that is quite rare in this era. His latest release is his sophomore album, ‘Vincent & Theo’, a collection of bright and elevating melodic rock tracks. They are expansive in presenting concepts, touching on vast emotional quotients with simple yet profound lyricism. The artist walks the line of elegant dialogue brilliantly. It is not preachy nor is it checked out. Every part of the song engages and immerses the listener without overwhelming them.

‘Over for Good’ opens the album. Its quivering accordions, emphatic riff breaks, slapping beats, and raw baritones present the perfect frame to float back in time. The bass picks up and the hearty melody lines flow into the chorus, matching perfectly with his DIY vocals. Tracks like ‘Invisible Friends’, ‘In Heaven’, and ‘Letting Go’ are all rife with soft/acoustic rock features. They filter into the sentiments of the song, forging a deeper dimension in them.

There are softer, more dilated songs that are romantic in their storytelling and dreamy in the folk aesthetic. ‘Beautiful Wife’ is especially heartwarming as the artist presents frames of a happy and carefree marriage. You can feel the fondness of the protagonist wash over you as the waltzing acoustics carry you to the end.

‘Sky’ and ‘Too Beautiful For Words’ also fall under this umbrella. But they have a more rustic American folk style to them. The former’s soundscape curls and coils with country-style instrumentals. It is continuously scintillating and so pleasant to rise and fall with the wafer-thin guitar trajectory. The latter is a folk-pop-rock blend. A love song that ties in nature’s inexplicable beauty with the lover’s essence. It is melodic poetry at its best. And the whole listening experience is contained in the lyrical goodness and warmth.

The artist’s play of rock, country, and folk is colorful with human experiences, emotion, and stories. There is a definite sense of universality that is built into it, which resonates with everyone. But there’s also a nuance that speckles and pops the listener. A creative weave that you can’t wait to sit through again. Each track is like a day that passes you by and it’s the days that you will want to remember. Listen Now!
