Pork Pie Drive Alt Rock to New Planes of Brilliance in ‘GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS’

Pork Pie is an Irish four piece band that drives into eclectic planes that metastasize into psychedelic and trippy revolutions of riffs, grooves, basslines. Their passion and will to play is intense and it drives them to stray into experimental frequencies. And it just extraordinarily frees the soundscapes and along with it, the listeners that are floating within it. You’ll see a lot of 70s rock influences driving their music. However, what gives it a unique edge is the lively alternative dimensions running underneath it, underneath it all. Like water flowing under ice.

Their latest release is the ‘GOLDEN LEAF SHEETS’ album, a relentless collection of ten tracks that is all momentum. The instrumentals form like fiery landscapes. With hissing basslines, roaring riffs, and a striding beat, it’s a volcanic movement. ‘City Lights’ opens the album at this energy level. And it only goes up from here. ‘Helplessly Waiting’ is scrumptious with texture and waylaid with funk dancing blues. The rhythm is so satisfyingly uplifting and top notch, vibe wise.

‘Careful As You Go’ has the gumption of garage rock and mounting power of punk. The vocals are especially deviant and chaotic, nicely tying into the rock n roll riff ladders. ‘I Want Everything’ brings a similar magnitude to the album. It’s a little more grander, with cinematic accents, vintage production style, and a loudness that takes over your entire life for four minutes. In the best way of course. ‘Outta Of My Mind’ tops the trio off with a summiting gusto, before paving the way to ‘Into The Skies’.

The two tracks are tunnels of rock that widen with bright and textured visuals. It is dramatic and dynamic with indulgent instrumentals that spread out as expansively as the sky. The guitar solos are especially striking. It pulls you in, keeps you roaming the labyrinth. There’s power, perspective, profoundness, and passion.

‘Golden Leaf Sheets’ are more cerebral. Sharp acoustic textures ring out, spreading with eastern classical accessories; within a shuffling riff frame. Deep baritone vocals further drown out the structures of normalcy and shine light on the hypnotic beauty of psychedelic rock. ‘Cabin Fever’ concludes with an all encompassing composition. It’s as if, it contains with it a little bit of all of the preceding tracks. It is expelled across so many layers and splitting dimensions. Arranging and rearranging, revolving for a symmetrical output. Like looking into a snotty, power rock kaleidoscope. Listen Now!

The four original members are Shane Brett (Drums), Michael Laverty (Bass), Michael Stafford (Vocals and Guitar), and Peter Laverty (Lead Guitar).
