Paul Bibbins Builds Up a Stellar Blues Rock Charisma with ‘Disenchantment at a Distance’

Paul Bibbins claims a distinctive brand of blues rock with his debut EP, ‘Disenchantment at a Distance’. The four tracks are characterized by their unique charisma as he juxtaposes vintage guitar work with experimental rhythms and vocal lines. Each number is crafted with alluring riffs, great drums and solid bass lines. We see influences of blues and rock n roll the way artists like Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Noel Redding played and presented them. All of this wrapped up in Paul’s own vision and passion for these genres. Listen Now!

The EP opens with ‘Bold, Beautiful… and Long Gone!’ The appeal of this track is contained in its vocal candor, textured with stellar imprints of electric riffs and drum work. He speaks the blues, reviving roots of this old African-American expression. With curving inflections and emphatic guitar work, he shapes romance with both retro and modern blues. The title track shares the same soundscape design and vocal style of this one.

Next up, ‘Thrill Walk’. This track is an instrumental. Bolstered with thick and heavy riffs, it drives into spheres of rock n roll, psychedelia and incandescent blues. You can’t help but revel in the swirling mosaic of texture. It is a dense composition with a lot of cerebral undercurrents. With an exploratory force and intuitive blooms, it makes for a really great listening experience.

‘Vista Valley Drift’ is yet another instrumental. Its sonic contours and sensibilities are very similar to Thrill Walk. However, the riffs are loaded more with ambient vibes and mercurial momentum to perhaps encapsulate the experience of drifting. Some funk, some soul, and a whole lot of psychedelic blues to form a memorable journey through the Vista Valley.
