Enjoy Origins of Nebulae’s Indie Rock Skies in ‘Motion Blur’

Origins of Nebulae is an indie rock band from Marseille, France. Their compositions expand to larger than life scenarios with frames that extrapolate and expand the ambit of feeling. It’s like experiencing human emotion and consciousness in an ethereal dimension. It is contemplative, incredibly conceptual, and deeply sonorous. If you enjoy the work of Beach House, Slowdive, and Cocteau Twins, then you’ll love the slow dancing revelations of this band.

Origins of Nebulae has just released their latest album, ‘Motion Blur’. It is a very visual album, spanning across stylistic, experimental, and explorative lines. With smooth rhythms, they project a sense of timelessness and boundlessness. And as you listen to it, the feeling that you’re in the middle of nowhere is incredibly affecting. In the best way. They carve out surreal landscapes and dream spheres to escape into. You can rise into cerebral pods or go into a trance cave.

The band achieves psychedelia with new and refreshing ideas. Elements of spirituality, absurdity, symmetry, and abstractions are definite features in it. But all this action is tempered by flat planes and long winded song structures. In ‘Oak Tree’, ‘Fragments’, ‘Craving’, and ‘The Moon Will Rise Again’, we experience the infinity of one dimension. It ebbs and flows with an ambient rhythm, full of soft and dazing nuances.

Tracks like ‘Firefall’, ‘Shame’, ‘Fallin’ Cucumber’ and ‘Obey’ throw us back to 90s and early 00s indie; reminiscent of The Strokes, Modest Mouse, and The Smiths. It has that iconic turn of the century indie fuzz that is beguiling in its fluidity and comforting in its simplicity.

In ‘Shallow Dance’, we see the first manifestations of rustic folk mixed into indie rock flows. Its soothing riffs, warm tones, and serene vocals are very captivating. Finally, ‘Tides in My Eyes’, a dynamic conclusion to the wonderful album. With synth sparkles, dreamy vocals, and launching rhythms, it has both a retro and contemporary feel to it. The track has many faces. Each arc has a unique reality, distinct sentiment, and a separate ethos. By the end of it, infused with its shoegaze spreads, eastern beat characters, and folk accents, you will start to feel the beginnings of transcendence. Listen Now!
