Album Review/ Techno : Saniel Woods’ ‘Techno Village’

Saniel Woods is an electronic music artist and producer. He fathoms rhythms, beats, and melodic formations that probably exist in an Otherworld, far from earth. He is a techno master who focuses on a genre of cerebral travel. The music flows inward and outward connecting the spaces that exist on either side of the body. And there is such a hypnotic harmony in that, a psychedelic dimension that you never want to give away.

His latest release is ‘Techno Village’, an album that is dense in its sensibilities, as it fills the spaces around you. With titles like ‘Black Sea’, ‘Neptune’ and ‘Strange Planet’, the artist forges smooth, slick sonic highways to skate to these themes. And the journey is what matters. The visuals, the beat programs both collaborate to create an almost cinematic visual that you can keep looping back into.

In ‘Discovery’, the artist explores the dynamic fun of entering a new space, a new world and learning about it. Even the soundscape is designed to constantly evolve and present new landscapes for the listener to dwell in.

Across the album, it’s the best work that is astoundingly varied. It is a thing of beauty, how the artist is able to conjoin a theme to a concept to a beat to a journey. Like in ‘Shooting Star’, he juxtaposes flying beats with luminous points and arcs of melody. In ‘The Army That Goes Party’, he creates a hardcore, intense and iconic groove that celebrates the uniqueness of the theme.

‘Mario’ carries a lot of theatrics. And it is all showcased with beat variations, swiping melodies and active vocal accents. But the baseline is definitely the world that you find yourself in. So distinct and different than anything else or anywhere else you’ve been. And much like this, one track flows into another, a spectacular continuum that leads you infinities and back. The conclusion of the album is with the track, ‘Limitless’. The beats are consistent, forming like building blocks both in a horizontal and vertical timeline. And it doesn’t stop. It keeps on going, expansive, range after range. The beats are designed to always leave it open ended. The best way to enjoy the song is to set yourself up for the immensity and expansiveness of the song. Listen Now!
