Drift With The Numb Project’s Downtempo Textures & Patterns in ‘Pull’

The Numb Project is exactly how it sounds; a sonic space where you can come to escape all energy and dwell in the static. It is the brainchild of Portland, Oregon producer Chris Calarco who loves to operate in the moody planes of sound. He marks this downtempo atmosphere with experimental hip-hop rhythms that are mellow yet incredibly detailed. So, within contemporary and abstract moments of sound, you can revel in pieces of familiar beat cultures.

His latest release is ‘Pull’, a track that is as hypnotic as it is dynamic. It all forms in the rhythm. The basses are deep and low. They are sublimely contrasted with a complex network of high tones, textures, and patterns. The best way to enjoy his soundscapes is to sit back and let your mind scatter with the free-flowing melodies and rolling beat motifs. It’s not about understanding it cerebrally as much as it is about flowing and momentously evolving with it.
