Suburban Bicycle Gang’s Psychedelic Folk Rock Thrives in ‘Wendigo’

The quirk-infused psychedelia of the Suburban Bicycle Gang exceeds all expectations. And it only keeps getting better. They have that immutable 70s folk rock ethos : vivid, dimensional, and so creatively elemental. Their latest release is ‘Wendigo’, a track spruced with edgy swing rhythms, dramatic luminosity, and an enlarging glam scene. Like a vintage 70s film coming to life.

Imagine a blend of Queen with Elvis Presley, and a little bit of The Beatles. There’s also some reggae, some country, and absurdist rock moments. The rhythm line is instantly experimental with its mercurial, layered realities. Jagged, warping, and distorted, it aptly captures the character of the evil spirit from Algonquian folklore (after which the song is named after). And the vocals pierce through these myriad instrumental asymmetries and arrangements to shape the context in which the theme unfolds. Listen Now!
