Sparkle Glitch’s ‘Blood Maiden’ : An Experimental Electro Pop

Imagine a sphere where whimsical electronica meets alt folk and dream pop. That’s the starting point for Sparkle Glitch. Ethereal femininity and expression flows into a contemporary synth fantasy. It is unique, so nuanced and liberated artistically. Her latest release is the ‘Blood Maiden EP’, a collection of six tracks that reinforce the stylistic themes and features that she debuted with her track, ‘Lowkey Kintsugi’. Across the EP, we encounter hopeful and feel-good infinities and then journey through them on the sparkling vehicle the artist gives us. The best way to experience and explore the soundscapes is to just immerse yourself in the premise and let it flow through you.

The EP is introduced by the title track. The asymmetry of the backdrop, rhythmically, melodically, and stylistically drives into the contemporary cloud of her vocals. We see mellow industrial features phasing into drum n bass, house music; all underpinned by hip-hop and trap beats. It has a way of normalising absurdities and experimental blooms. We see these patterns in ‘Elementals’ as well.

‘Bluebird’, featuring Meta Hoepfner also forms similarly, with its uplifting features and mounting melodic flows. It is feel-good and so emotionally fantastical that it gives you goosebumps and evokes a visceral reaction.

Tracks like ‘Boy I Never Knew’ and ‘Immortal Dryad’ have remarkable electronic features. While the former embodies the Glitch in ‘Sparkle Glitch’, the latter throws it up with rapidly fluctuating rhythms. There is drive to disorientation which is balanced by the spectacular dimensions of Sparkle’s vocals, all swirling into a swirling whirlpool of sound. Listen Now!
