Song Review/ Jazz : Michele Thomas’s ‘No More’

Michele Thomas is a singer-songwriter and jazz artist of the new age. Reviving everything about the classic about the genre, of the things that inspires her about it, she shapes it into a unique, distinctive piece that expresses real parts of her soul, of her growth, of her being. ‘The Assumption’ album, released in 2022 was some of her best and most powerful work. It is almost like a self-portrait, with the tracks chronicling breakthroughs, heartache, spaces, and moments of a life lived.

Taken from the collection is ‘No More’, a track in which Michele so eloquently and gracefully asserts selfdom, autonomy, and independence. And the soundscape swinging between playfulness and passion, intersperses her narratives. And it all makes such a vivid portrait of emotion, expression, and the experience of being a woman. Listen Now!

The song was composed by flutist, Hubert Laws and written by lyricist/ singer, Jon Hendricks. These legendary jazz artists composed the song in the 60s. This cover by Michele Thomas, flows with her own interpretation and influences; making it a perfect cover for these, contemporary times.
