Song Review/ Alt Rock : Delta of Venus’s ‘Disengaged/Slipping’
Delta of Venus, as their name suggests, is an indie rock and alt band from a whole other world. With their debut double release, ‘Disengaged/Slipping’, the band explores powerful sensibilities that emerge out of love, out of the romance. They build it into spheres of mystique, of drifting funk, of dream pop. While the instrumentals are dynamic, the vocals are lost in a world of their own, elongated and elastic, they reach for emotion that are deep in.
The contrast creates divergence and dispersion. Like light going through a prism, the textures and tones spread out to create a surreal rock atmosphere. While ‘Disengaged’ carves out an indie folk pop style out of melancholy, ‘Slipping’ engages with more pop. A stream of shoegaze flies under the radar, bubbling and drifting spectacularly to the infinities that the vocals are made of. Listen Now!
