Single Review : Tom Minor’s ‘It’s The Wind, Stupid’

Tom Minor is a born storyteller. The singer-songwriter’s ability to craft an immersive narrative, one that is complemented by style, tale, vocal manipulation, and instrumental nuance. Each story is uniquely told, a variant of the pop rock culture. His latest release is ‘It’s the Wind, Stupid’, a track that explores the aftermath of a breakup when the mind keeps wandering back to old times and old flames, seeing things that aren’t there and tricking the mind. The protagonist is singing to himself, consoling, reminiscing, and comforting his heart.

Tailored with mellow instrumentals, light baritones, the soundscape is largely nostalgic with brief retrospective reprieves. Bluesy tones underlie the guitar melodies. We see accordion melodies, rippling piano arcs, and a dynamic rhythm cycle. Asymmetrical beats, vocal flows, and bass grooves nicely tie into the stream of consciousness narrative, intimate, honest, and self-affirming. Listeners of The Smiths are sure to love this track!
