SEPH’s Electro Pop Glamor Shines Spectacularly in ‘The Dawn of a Dream’

SEPH’s electro pop is artful, crafted more so for self-expression. It is rife with experimental structures, mercurial detailing, and even explorative designs that form as extensions of similar themes. As much as it seeks and these soundscapes have a definite ethos to them. It is unique, novel, and full of personal significance for the artist. In his sophomore album, ‘The Dawn of a Dream’, the artist explores pop in such expansive variations. The electronic sphere is like a flowing river to him, fluid and fresh, never stagnating. Each track splays out into a nuanced plane, shimmering with its own synth craft. And it’s incredible to watch the theme of the album take form as you travel across it.

‘Dead in the Night’ opens the collection. Dark, suggestive synths curve into the composition like shadows, only illuminated by the deep, underlying bass groove. It’s a brief piece with the second half taking on a more vibrant personality. In under a couple minutes, the artist dramatically showcases the thematic and stylistic range that he intends of the album.

‘Secrets Taste Like You’ explores furtive love, one that you keep hidden. Special, sensual, and passionate, it is posed with mellow vibrance, flashing at the fringes with a bittersweet core. These tracks flesh out the artist’s love for glam and glitter. His panache glows with bright threads of electronica, flying through the soundscapes like sashes. They are dramatic, full of flair, and so liberated. You’ll experience it especially in tracks like ‘Rhinestone Soul’, ‘Gold’ and ‘Better’.

‘Fantasy Lover’ plays out with cool melodic pallets. Brief touches of synths and a gentle pulse float up to the surface like bubbles of water. A moody baritone flows through these tones, gathering them together like shining marble moments. ‘Heartbreak Hell’ and ‘Heartbreak Heaven’ are two sides of the same coin. While the former had a more melodramatic complexity, the latter thrives with a devilish euphoria that is showcased with racing beat, exhilarating rhythms, and dancing melodies.

‘Cancer Moon’ traces a sensitive halo, an atmosphere of intimate contemplation flows down memory lane, visiting a past lover and writing a letter to him. ‘Glass Disco Ball’ is a fun, dance-driven, and a shimmering trail of a song. It folds over itself, swirling like a ball of light, magical in its own right. The title track concludes the album on a dreamy electro pop note. With bright, refreshing melody motifs, rippling synths, pulsing beats, and wiry basslines, they elevate the fresh start, the new beginning, the closing of a toxic door, to a serendipitous level.
