Music Review : Santa Claws’ ‘Grain of Sand’

Santa Claws is a specialty rock band founded by Greg Aubert. With a passion for authentic and neat rock n roll, his compositions emerge with beautiful variations of this style. They always drive at something deeper, past the levels of noise and pretense to the real sound beneath. And that’s what he brings back to the surface, to us. ‘Grain of Sand’ is the second single from the band’s upcoming album ‘So Live and Let Lie’ (following She Turns).

It is a mellow rock track, formed with smooth planes of instrumentation and dazing vocals. Greg’s vocals are echoing baritones, with a deep resonance, readily absorbing into the soundscape. The verses are acoustical, deeply evocative. With a blast of distortion and effervescing blues, it shines in the chorus, bleeding all through the bridge and dissolving into a dazing climax.
