Single Review : Louise Burke’s ‘Benevolent not Malevolent’

Louise Burke is a singer-songwriter and alt folk artist who casts her listeners in intimate and encompassing soundscapes. Using an affecting combination of acoustics, synths, and candid vocals, she crafts tracks that are reminiscent of Joni Mitchell, Alanis Morissette, and Phoebe Bridgers. Her latest release is ‘Benevolent not Malevolent’, a track that traces the tale of a faltering relationship and failing love. Inspired by her own love story that dwindled in 2020 during the lockdown, you’ll see lyrical references to it that creates a touching tale.

The track forms on the fringes of contemporary pop, alt folk, and a ballad. Louise’s distinctive vocals, confessional and honest, draws you into storytelling frames that describe the theme in hand. With heartache and acceptance forming side by side, it leaves a bittersweet taste in its wake. Listen Now!
