Enjoy The Narrative Classical Pieces of Joanna Borrett’s ‘Clan’

Joanna Borrett is a classical music artist and composer with a strong passion and penchant for orchestrating human emotion and experience. Her soundscapes are so vivid and expressive with neo classicals etched with highland folk accents. The undulating and layered melody framework is like a whole language that swirls with intricate meaning and value. ‘Clan’ is the artist’s latest album of ten tracks, each one an exploration of mystique, culture, and concept. It is impossible to walk away from these compositions having felt nothing. Joanna imbibes them with her unique richness that translates into the listener. It affects you. Listen Now!

What makes it more enjoyable is how the folk is not a dominating presence, but is used by the artist to add a playful or profound dimension to the track. In ‘One Morning’, beneath the fleshy violins and dotting piano keys, the folk creates the quality of morning in the backdrop. The consciousness picks up on it and colors the rest of the composition with it. In ‘Reel’ also the folk is used as a function of aesthetics rather than that of communication. It is pronounced in the beats but travels evasively through the piano line.

‘Us’ is executed with a slow and shimmering neo-classical composition. It leaves a lot of room for contemplation. And as you listen, you’ll find yourself storing memories and thoughts into its melody pockets. ‘Highland’ is similarly contemplative but it has a more scenic grandeur and boundlessness. Like this, with each track, a distinct resonance forms.

‘Betrayal’ is dramatic with emotional playing and intense instrumental scenes. ‘Armour and Battlefield’ is an intuitive dance that is sensual and seductive. The relationship between the two titular themes are explored directly and indirectly with other concepts like war, death, pride, solidarity, and identity.

‘Chant’ and ‘Circle’ are both crafted to be contemplative instrumentals. With deep tonal instrumentals, they are suggestive compositions that evoke a lot of deep thoughts. Each element is devoted to empty the mind and find new thoughts. A contrast of speckled melodies and strings of violins evoke a sense of calm and meditation as you wander.
