Album Review/ Country Rock : Jess & The Bandits’ ‘Jessica’

Jess and The Bandits is a Texan, country rock band that explores the essence of storytelling with music. Drawing from experiences of love, faith, hope, and belief, they drive into philosophical ruminations and contemplative themes. Carried by a strong and passionate voice, it all comes alive in real time. Their latest release is ‘Jessica’, a collection that delves into the many dimensions of the founder, doting on encounters and instances of life to derive wisdom from it. Feel good and uplifting, it is marked by roiling instrumentals, hearty verses, and fulfilling soundscapes.

‘God Did Good’ introduces the album, a track that describes an honest and good man who is perfect in a relationship. There is gratitude, adoration, appreciation, and pride in the vocals as it details the best man in the world. It is a classic country rock song with molten guitar melodies, electric riffs and melodic rhythms that carry the theme to high places. We see similar themes and instrumental flows in tracks like ‘Kids in Love’, ‘One Day’ and others.

‘Don’t Tell Me How You Feel’ and ‘No Pot of Gold’ are softer songs that drift to valleys of contemplation and melancholic storytelling. ‘I Ain’t Wrong’ and ‘The Truth About  Lies’ contrast with edgy, bolstered, and powerful song making. The vocals are emphatic, empowering, and driving.

Jess and The Bandits flow with the feeling. They keep it real and authentic, passing on the candor of life to their music as well. And in an era where most things are orchestrated and manufactured to cater to the masses, listening to this band is a breath of fresh air. Listen Now!
