A Review : Tanya Goltz’s EP ‘Pieces of Me’
Australian singer-songwriter, Tanya Goltz, drives at the essence of being human in her debut EP, ‘Pieces of Me’. Projected from the lenses of her own experiences, each track is an autobiographical fragment that is revealing the artist, impels the listener towards themselves. The collection is introduced by the title track. It is an alt-pop composition that aligns anthemic pop with rustic rock features. Influences of Brandi Carlile, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette, ZZ Ward and Miranda Lambert come up in tracks like ‘Steal My Soul’, ‘Dead of Night’, and ‘No One Wins’. These last three tracks carry heavy details of bluesy rock, retro country, and even some rock n roll. They especially reveal Tanya’s vocal versatility. She effortlessly adapts them to form in dark spheres conveying woe and retro blues like a pro.
The inspiration behind the EP, apart from self-discovery, is the toils and troubles of youth. Tanya gets into themes like wanderlust, love, heartache, loss, and empowerment.
