Ripsime Creates Experimental Sonic Portraits With ‘Capsule I : Wicked & Wise’

RIPSIME is a singer-songwriter and a conceptual musician based in London. Her penchant for creating sonic visuals often take over her soundscapes, rewarding the listener with a simultaneous lyrical and sensual dialogue. When it comes to describing her style though, it is hard to pen down. The mercurial spells of emotions guide the flow. However, she always creates space for experimentation, exploration, and improvisation. RIPSIME has just released her debut EP, ‘Capsule I : Wicked & Wise’. The five track collection is the first of two, featuring some of the teaser tracks that she released prior.

The EP opens with ‘Benevolent Prince’. A shimmering tapestry of contemporary electronica. Darkness darts in and out of the trap beats, bass lines, and scattering synths. Her vocal is a mysterious mist, whispering through it all. It is reminiscent of artists like Billie Eilish, Lorde, and Tove Lo. The wilful disorientation in service of honesty and authenticity. ‘Daemons’ follows next. An ethereal synth stream forms the main stem of the song. It is slowly dilated with trap beats, R&B, funk, and soul evocations.

‘Wicked & Wise’ is a charismatic track. The dramatic vocal inflections are delivered with a nonchalant boldness. Carried by catchy beats and interesting synth textures, its appeal is visual for the most part. All the elements play out unique roles, inspired by the listener’s psyche. ‘In Clouds’ is a surreal and sensual cloud hop miracle that you all need to get some of. Fluid and formless, it is beautiful in its freedom.

‘Angels’ is presented as a string of soulful echoes, dedicated to a cerebral transcendence. The evolving sonic mosaic at the backdrop further elevates this experience. It is colored with dominant visual accents and prompts. The EP ends with this track, leaving the listener with a taste for mystique, mystery, and magic.

Across the tracks, it becomes evident that the artist is trying to merge conventional theories of music aesthetic with her own artistic individuality. Her expression is purely guided by imaginative, autobiographical, and even cultural facets. It is truly one of its kind, and definitely a treasure in this vast sonic ocean. Listen Now!

The EP is available for streaming on popular sites like Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and Amazon Music!
