Me & Melancholy’s ‘Under Cover, Part II’ : A Dark Experimental Sonic Wave

Me & Melancholy is the brainchild of musician and producer Peter Ehrling. The electronic project tends to delve into the darker spheres of the human experience, fleshing it out with cryptic and experimental ideas and sonic waves. With ideas that transcend conventional levels of contemplation, dynamism, design, and concepts, he quite literally transports you to a realm of possibilities, infinities, and melancholy.

Speaking to his style, the artist is inspired by the complexity of melancholy, pain, sadness, and grief. Deep diving into it, he gives us the many worlds contained within these emotional frames. And they’re new, exciting, refreshing, and liberating. They all come with a sense of perspective that is so far removed from the tired and repetitive ones we are accustomed to. And when you find imprints of your own feelings within it, there’s a moment of expanse that forms.

His latest release, ‘Under Cover, part 2’ album is a nine song collection that thrives in its modernity. This quotient seems to multiply with every track, dancing into flames of synths, active beats, and moody vocals. You’ll catch moments of the 80s phased into unique ideas. In tracks like ‘run’, ‘Socker’ and ‘Smalltown boy’, you’ll catch indie pop/ dream pop influences. And as they spread out, the fringes grapple with a blurry heartache. ’The sun and the rainfall’, ‘3e Sexe’ and ‘Major Leagues’ all have a very progressive synth pulse that expands with experimentals. Major Leagues have strong retro influences that nicely mingle with modernity.

And finally, ‘This Modern Love’, ‘Fake Plastic Trees’, and ‘Lovesong’ are inlaid with emo-influenced subtleties that sparkle all along moments of synth and pop. It is mellow, floating with dimensions and intricate emotional dynamics. Listen Now!
